Welcome to Sterile Processing "University", (SPU) LLC. This is a place for individuals wishing to learn the sterile processing profession or continuing their sterile processing education through approved Continuing Education programs.

Certification is becoming more important than ever for sterile processing professionals. With the August 2004 law in New Jersey requiring all sterile processors to be certified, the emphasis on the importance of certification has emerged. Once certified, personnel must remain up-to-date (competent) in all areas of practice. This includes Roles and Responsibilities, Life Sciences (Anatomy / Physiology / Microbiology), Decontamination, Preparation Packaging, Sterilization, Sterile Storage, Inventory Control and Supply Distribution. This site will focus on these topics as well as management topics including fiscal and personnel management.

The continuing education programs on this site have been developed and contributed by a variety of sterile processing professionals, all of whom are certified.

Some of the advantages of continuing competency include:

CEUs can be obtained via the computer or by mail.

Sterile Processing University is lowering its fees for Continuing Education In-services. SPU recognizes that this is a tough economic time and sterile processing professionals have limited funds due to the rising costs of virtually everything. So, SPU is LOWERING the costs to make important Continuing Education programs more available. Take advantage of this new pricing while it lasts. Quality Continuing Education programs at new, lower costs. Another way that Sterile Processing University is helping to serve the sterile processing profession.

We offer 1.0 & 1.5 CEU in-services. The cost for all 1.0 CEU in-services is $10 each, for 1.5 CEU in-services, the price is $15 each.

Directions for getting started:

1. View our In-service page.
2. Then select the CEU program you wish to take. Select from either the on-line version or the printable version of the in-service. The computer will automatically bring you to that program.
3. For the on-line version, a link to the post-test is supplied at the end. Complete the test and fill out the form and your results will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
   
4. We will mail you a certificate upon passing within 7-10 days.
5. Prices are reasonable and lower than the competition!
